AmeriCorps VISTA Program
The Division of Juvenile Justice in association with the AmeriCorps Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) and the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) is calling for volunteers to consider applying for the Building Stronger Communities project. Under a competitive grant, the AmeriCorps VISTA project seeks to build capacity for volunteerism in communities while also building a collaborative culture of service within DJJ. Selected members will provide a year of project service (April 15, 2019 to April 14, 2020) at a Division of Juvenile Justice facility located in Ventura or Stockton, and VISTA member needed at the DJJ Headquarters office located in Elk Grove. Through this unique opportunity, assigned AmeriCorps members will have an opportunity to be part of a resource provided to develop collaborative volunteer recruitment and management systems that will provide DJJ youth with positive pathways towards self-sufficiency.
