Offender Health Care
Effective September 19, 2018, the California Correctional Health Care Services has begun collaborating with County Probation offices for the purposes of transferring healthcare information for offenders being released onto PRCS to ensure continuity of care. CCHCS has developed a system through which health care information will be transmitted via a secure and confidential system. When an offender is identified as upcoming for release, CCHCS will prepare a patient summary and upload it into the appropriate county’s folder in the Secure Automated File Exchange (SAFE). County Probation will designate an individual (or individuals) who are authorized to receive confidential healthcare information. Files will be available for 30 days, after which they will be deleted to protect patient privacy.
To address technical difficulties, designated persons may contact the CCHCS Solution Center Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. The CCHCS Solution Center can be reached at 1-888-735-3470.
