EreadereReaders are secure devices for digital textbooks that are accessed by offenders enrolled in college courses to aid in achieving their academic and educational goals. eReaders promote accessibility and sustainability by providing access to academic resources virtually anywhere while decreasing the environmental footprint by reducing hard-copy materials. Costs associated with printing and/or purchasing hard-copy academic materials is decreased, lessening the financial barriers for those students responsible for furnishing their textbooks and materials.

Voluntary Education Program (VEP) teachers check out eReaders each semester to offenders enrolled in college and other approved education programs.

eReaders are available at all CDCR institutions.

eReaders are made available to all CDCR offender-students enrolled in VEP college correspondence courses.
